The Morro Bay Kite Festival returns this weekend! 🪁

The Morro Bay Kite Festival offers a vibrant celebration of wind, color, and community along California’s Central Coast.

Scheduled for April 25–27, this free, family-friendly event will take place on the beach just north of Morro Rock, the perfect backdrop for the festivities.

Don’t miss your chance to play at the beach, enjoy some local food and drink, and most importantly - fly a kite!

FRIDAY, APRIL 25
Night Flight 🌕
Begins after sunset at 7:45 p.m.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, APRIL 26 - 27
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Candy drops will happen twice each day depending on weather 🍬

Parking is limited at Morro Rock!

Consider parking along Emarcadero, the lot north of the Coast Guard Station, or the Maritime Museum.

It’s a bit farther away, but you can also park at Cloisters Park or near Lila Keiser Park.

FOSO opens at Sensorio ✨

On Friday, April 11 Sensorio will debut their newest installment, FOSO, or Fiber Optic Symphonic Orchestra. The installation features 32 individual light responsive columns designed to “play” to the score of the music.

Designed by renowned artist Bruce Munro (the creative mind behind exhibits Field of Light, Gone Fishing, Fireflies, and Light Columns), the installation blends the sounds of an orchestra with a dynamic light display, with each note represented by a specific color.

Munro collaborated with Emmy award-winning composer Nainita Desai to produce the exclusive score for the exhibit, which highlights each individual member of the orchestra as they would perform. This unique intersection of light and sound allows visitors to enjoy an immersive experience as you can truly visualize the music while journeying through the lights.

Date night done right at The Oak Grill 🌿

Whether you’re staying at Hotel Cerro, just passing through SLO, or a local looking for a new spot for an incredible meal, The Oak Grill should be on your list.

Located within Hotel Cerro in Downtown SLO, The Oak Grill offers a dining experience that celebrates the local agricultural bounty and culinary artistry of the Central Coast, with a global influence of flavors and cuisines that craft their menu.

This could not be more evident than in their dinner menu, which features the vibrant flavors of the Philippines through their Lumpia appetizer, a Portuguese-inspired Seared Scallop Calderiada, and Roasted Shishito Peppers that bring a taste of Japan. But if you’re looking for an elevated taste of California, you’ll find that too with options including West Coast Oysters and Tri Tip Steak Frites, among many others.

We were invited to dinner at The Oak Grill recently, and had an incredible experience. The restaurant is beautiful and modern, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and the food and drinks were excellent. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and will absolutely be back again.
