Celebrating National Drink Coffee Day in SLO County

National Drink Coffee Day is Sunday, September 29!

There will be lots of national chains celebrating coffee’s big day, and probably giving away a free cup of joe to customers. We thought we would feature nine local coffee shops instead, and picked some of the best from all around SLO County.

Whether you go to your favorite coffee shop in San Luis Obispo, Pismo, or Morro Bay for National Drink Coffee Day, just make sure it’s your favorite place so you can treat yo’ self on coffee’s big day!

Kreuzberg Coffee Company

The owner of Kreuzberg Coffee, James, spent time in Berlin in 2006 where he fell in love with the Kreuzberg neighborhood.

After graduating from Cal Poly he decided it was time to bring Kruezberg to the central coast, and opened Kruezberg Coffee Company in 2010.

These days James is still serving some of the best coffee at his location on Higuera, and we can think of few better local places to spend National Drink Coffee Day in SLO.

Spending National Drink Coffee Day here means you not only get a great cup of joe, you also get to try some of their amazing soups, salads, and sandwiches…or if you are there early enough get the breakfast burrito!

Yelp

Red Dirt Coffee House

Going to Red Dirt Coffee House is almost like visiting a small part of Hawaii, but on E Grande Ave in Arroyo Grande. It also happens to be the perfect representation of its owners, Paul and Jackye.

Paul grew up in Kanahuna in Hawaii, and Red Dirt Coffee House is inspired by those childhood experiences in everything from the decor to the shade-grown Hawaiian coffees they serve, but it was Jackye who brought the love of coffee to the table in the first place, and the drive to open her own shop.

Today Paul and Jackye still spend most of their time at the coffee shop, where they also serve a full breakfast and lunch menu…and yes, some of the dishes have a Hawaiian flare!

If you can’t make it out for National Drink Coffee Day you can also find Joebella’s beans at the local Vons in Atascadero…so there really is no excuse not to try their coffee if you live in North County!
