The Trail Rides at the Madonna Inn are one of the many amazing amenities available at the hotel, and one of the most fun ways to see the beauty of San Luis Obispo. The hotel itself sits on 1,000 acres just south of Downtown San Luis Obispo, and the one-hour trail rides follow the path up the nearby hillside that leads to the most stunning views of the city and the Madonna Inn’s property from the top.
The trail rides are guided by experienced wranglers, and a great activity for riders of all experience levels aged seven and up.
The horses are also some of the most sweet and gentle animals, which you can often see grazing in the big open fields just behind the Main Inn.
The stables are located on the backside of those fields, which is where you meet to go horseback riding. To find the stables follow the road past the Main Inn towards the pasture, and follow the signs for the Trail Rides and Expo Center, which are just across from each other.
Reservations are required to go horseback riding, and can be made by calling Haddie Townsend at (805) 550-5307. Trail Rides at the Madonna Inn are $65 per person (adult or child), or those 21 and over can upgrade to the Ride & Taste Package for $80 which includes the one-hour trail ride and a wine and cheese pairing in the Gourmet Shop of the Main Inn.
