Esprit Du Vin is an annual event celebrating the wineries along Highway 46 East in Paso Robles, CA.
These wineries are part of the larger Paso Robles American Viticulture Area, which spans over 650,000 acres stretching from San Miguel in the north to Santa Margarita in the South, and from the Santa Lucia Mountains in the West to Shandon in the East.
In 2014 the Paso Robles AVA was broken down into eleven sub-districts, three of which call Highway 46 E home: the Geneseo District, the Estrella District, and the San Juan Creek District.
The vast majority of the wineries that participated in this year’s Esprit Du Vin were from the Geneseo and Estrella Districts, with one winery technically outside the boundaries but still close enough geographically to produce similar wines.
This year’s event saw 20 wineries participating, each of which were pouring two of their best varietals. The wineries also paired at least one of their varietals with cheese, which meant there were forty wines and at least 20 cheeses to sample throughout the event.
In addition to the wine and cheese pairings (as if that wasn’t delicious enough), several local caterers and food truck vendors provided additional bites throughout the night. Guests were treated to mac & cheese from RailRoad BBQ, Meatballs by Paso Catering, Cheesecake Bites by Farmhouse Sweets, and more.
Acoustify, a popular local band, provided the live music throughout the event, singing the classic rock, country, and pop songs they are well known for and providing the perfect atmosphere for a really fun night exploring the incredible wineries along Highway 46 E.
