When you open the doors to the Brown Butter Cookie Company, you are welcomed with the aroma of freshly baked cookies and given samples right off the baking tray. You can smell the butter browning as you watch a team of bakers and dough makers hand-roll each Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookie. Once you enjoy the taste of this delicious, sweet and salty treat, you’ll soon understand how this humble cookie shop in the beach town of Cayucos, California, made a name for itself nationwide.

The Original Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookie was first introduced at Brown Butter Cookie Company’s small specialty food shop in Cayucos. In December of 2008, they launched a website for the Original Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookie. The response was so positive that in January of 2009, they closed their food shop and the Brown Butter Cookie Company was born. Since then, the passion for these cookies has only continued to grow.
In the fall of 2013, Brown Butter Cookie Company opened its first boutique retail shop in downtown Paso Robles, right on the park in the iconic Acorn Building. Six years later, in the fall of 2019, they celebrated their 10th year in business with the opening of a second retail location. You’ll find the newest shop in charming San Luis Obispo, right in the heart of downtown. Brown Butter Cookie Company continues to make all of its Brown Butter Sea Salt Cookies by hand at the flagship Cayucos location.
