Robin’s Restaurant in Cambria has always been about freshness and wholesomeness, but also about flavor, texture, sustainability, and celebrating the abundance of local products available right here in our backyard of SLO County.  Not only do they have one of the largest vegetarian menus in the county, you know you’ll be eating food that is locally sourced and made with love. Learn more about Robin’s Restaurant below, and find time to visit this incredible restaurant for yourself soon!

The Menu

The menus at Robin’s Restaurant are an eclectic mix of flavors and textures, but the food is always delicious and a celebration of the local produce, cheeses, meats, seafood, and craft drinks available in our region.

Robin’s has proudly supported local farmers since they opened in 1985, and you can see the importance of those relationships weaved through the menu itself.

Just a quick glance at the menu shows they use locally caught sea bass for their Miso Glazed Sea Bass; the eggs for their Eggs Benedict come from Cal Poly; and the fruits and vegetables that go into the dishes are often found at local Farmers Markets…along with many more examples.

The food itself at Robin’s is broken down into four menus: Lunch, Mid Day, Dinner, and Brunch.  Each menu features distinct dishes, but there is some overlap between them. Several of their appetizers and salads, for example, can be found on all their menus, but their incredible Curried Chicken Croissant Melt can only be found at Lunch.

Whenever you visit Robin’s though you are guaranteed an amazing meal in a beautiful setting, and leave with a whole new appreciation of how delicious the food from SLO County can be.

Drink Menu

The drink menu at Robin’s Restaurant is extensive, and includes everything from local wines and beers to sake and cider.  Several of the 200+ wineries in the Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande Valley, and Edna Valley regions are featured alongside other world-renowned wines, but all are “farmed organically, bio-dynamically, or SIP (Sustainability in Practice) Certified”.

Our Experience

We do not live in Cambria, but always love the drive out to the north coast in SLO County.  Our typical route takes us from Highway 101 to Highway 46 through Templeton, which just has some of the best views of the wineries, hills, and the coast as you drive towards Highway 1.  It really is a beautiful drive, and is the perfect way to start our adventure.

There is little to no parking on Burton Drive in Cambria, so we always park at the public lot a block west of the restaurant.

The lot is free, and not a far walk to and from Robin’s. Sometimes we need the walk after our meal, to be honest!

We visited Robin’s for Brunch most recently at the end of July, when SLO County was still in the height of harvest season and all the incredible fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and craft drinks produced locally were still available.

This meant there were specialty drinks on the menu, like the Pomegranate Mimosa Nicole had to start her meal.

For starters we ordered the Crispy Vietnamese Spring Rolls that came with a side of kimchi (YUM), and the Vegetarian Tomato Soup.  The soup was amazing, and was made with quinoa which gave it this really hearty texture without being too thick or clumpy.

Nicole tried the Breakfast Sandwich for her entree, which not only came with a fried egg but also honey smoked bacon, vine ripened tomatoes, butter lettuce, and chipotle aioli on a brioche bun.

Nick had the Beer Battered Fish Tacos, which are made with locally caught Rock Cod, mango salsa, and lime crema.

Some of Nicole’s family also joined us, and they shared the Cauliflower Tempura and a Cheese & Charcuterie Board.

It was Nicole’s Birthday, so Robin’s treated her to a birthday sundae complete with a candle!  She shared a little with the table, but we also ordered a Creme Brûlée for dessert to share with her family.

Overall we had an incredible time at Robin’s, and will definitely be back.  The food was delicious, and there are things on the dinner menu we are already looking forward to ordering!

History

In 1985 Robin Covey and Shanny Covey opened their first version of Robin’s Restaurant in the back room of a health food store in Cambria, where they served their locally sourced, wholesome cuisine.  It was the popularity of those dishes that allowed them to officially open Robin’s Restaurant and move into their first standalone location on Bridge Street…but not for long.

Five short years later Robin’s was moving again, this time to Burton Drive in Cambria where they are still located today.  Their rustic location on Burton Drive is the perfect space to enjoy the handcrafted meals made with love and the best ingredients you can find in SLO County.
